Offworld Studies is a practice-based research platform concerned with offworld imaginaries: how worlds beyond Earth are imagined, modelled, rehearsed, and made material from within the social and political conditions of Earth.

What is being made when offworlds are staged as places for human life?

A settlement plan, a training simulation, or a Mars habitat is never only a technical proposal, but a way of arranging relations between bodies, environments, resources, institutions, and the conditions of everyday life. This means that such places cannot be understood simply as destinations, but have to be looked at as a field of practices through which they are made manifest before they are built. It is in these practices that offworlds acquire texture.
